Reflection ~ Surprise, surprise!  The most significant interview I did overall was with Pete Slaugh. A SUMMARY |  Julie Slack was a close second, overall.  |                          |   Casey Wells was my best interview with a young-agent.   |                                                              |   Allison Whittaker politely declined permission to share.   |                                                                                                 |   Sandy Colins was the least insightful, yet the most fun.   | A DISCUSSION       Pete Slaugh is a true, living-breathing entrepreneur. Like many, after a lifetime in his chosen career, his final feat was to share his wisdom with others. About a week ago, I sat down with him to learn a little more about his experiences. Now I want to discuss the major take-aways from our meeting, and reflect on their meaning to me as a young entrepreneur following in his footsteps. Ill choose my favorite questions to keep this manageable in

A Proposal. First Interview, Grandpa .   The first entrepreneur I would like to interview is very near and dear to me. While he may be a family member of mine, he is someone who I have admired and looked up to my whole life. I call him Grandpa, but everyone else knows him as Paul Herman  Slaugh , Jr…. Or, Pete!  Notice: He does not have any social media. Google search results below ~ He’s owned more businesses than I even know about, but that is one reason I am so excited to interview him. Don’t get me wrong, we have a great relationship; it’s just not every day that I have a good enough reason to be nosey about his business ventures!  He has been an entrepreneur all of his life.  Since May of 2019, when I started selling real estate, I have come to learn that he has touched the lives of  what seems to be  everyone in Lancaster . Whenever I’m speaking with another industry professional, the first question I get is— “Any relation to Pete  Slaugh ?”     T he answer is always yes, but hon

Action Steps

I took week ONE to get my feet wet. In week two I began smooth sailing through every goal I had in mind. I seriously felt as though it was virtually effortless.  Another quick reminder of the goals I set for week TWO because, yeah... I still need it, okay!   8/31 - 9/14 1. Vet mentors... make the choice count. 2. Meet with and mentor your chosen mentors.  3. Physically implement what I learn. 4. Start blog, track progress Here are some decision highlights ~ MENTORS: Allison Whittaker, Sandy Colins, Pete Slaugh, Matt Helsel TAKE AWAYS: Organization tips, Business tricks, Team structures, Automation, Task delegation                         This project could either be a huge waste of time, or it could be hella beneficial to my professional skillset.  At the end of the day, I want this to be worthwhile... so I was strategic in every single choice, definitely did not give myself any gimmes, if ya know what I mean. Being week one I'm not really sure how these blogs will go, but right no

Baby Steps

It's time!  Time to hold myself accountable for reaching the goals I set for myself! yay ... How do we think I did? A quick reminder of the goals I set for week ONE because LBH, we all forgot.....  8/24 - 8/31 1. Choose a project idea 2. Discuss it with Nancy 3. Create a timeline to demonstrate how I will execute the project 4. Start blog, track progress So far, so good. I reached all of my goals this week. Week one was mostly about getting my feet off the ground. I needed to (thoughtfully) plan, plan well, and plan some more. The last thing I have is time to waste and I wanted to be considerate of that while planning for this. The way I see it, is... This project could either be a huge waste of time, or it could be hella beneficial to my professional skillset.  At the end of the day, I want this to be worthwhile... so I was strategic in every single choice, definitely did not give myself any gimmes, if ya know what I mean. Being week one I'm not really sure how these blogs wi

Timeline

Fall 2020 Timeline "Putting pull-ups on my business"  Applying my economic and entrepreneurial knowledge to help prepare my business (and I) for take off, full time, in real estate. The goal is to go full circle here...  recognize weaknesses, seek & obtain information, track my progress, renovate my business and finally... share what I've learned. Above all I mustn't forget to take care of myself.  8/24/2020 - 8/31/2020 Explore project ideas and choose one to run with for the semester. Run the idea by Nancy and discuss anything else that comes to mind. Define a timeline for my progress on the project. Begin a blog to track any progress or ideation. 8/31/2020 - 9/14/2020 Choose, reach out to and mentor other agents and industry professionals. Take note of strategies or organization methods that seem helpful. Inquire about team structures, recruiting and training.           - People I may want to mentor: Dawn Brill-Cooper, Allison Whittaker, Shane Kuntz          - G
